Long-distance move from Buckeye, AZ to Salem, OR

June 2022 Move from AZ to OR

Moving is very stressful and expensive. MoveOn Moving was a huge mistake for many reasons. The day before the movers were to arrive, I get a call from Michelle, the "office/dispatch manager". I was told I needed to have a third party piano mover to prepare my baby grand piano; their movers would not move the piano without that in place. Imagine the difficult if not impossible task of finding someone within one day. Luckily a buyer came through that same day to buy the piano. Given the treatment of my other belongings, I strongly doubt the baby grand would have survived the moving by MoveOn Moving. My household needed to be stored in Las Vegas for a month while I settled the rest of my move. Apparently, everything is offloaded to pallets and shoved into a warehouse, along with who knows how many other households, then reloaded for delivery. Upon eventual delivery, it was clear that there was no care taken with my belongings. Things had been smashed and destroyed. A covered mattress (recently purchased) had been undone and obviously walked on; it was filthy. Small things were missing. Most upsetting was the loss of an expensive, large, carved stone Buddha Meditating statue. It was heavy, 3+ feet high, 2+ feet wide and 12-15 inches deep. How do you "lose" something of that nature? I was told they would find it that day and deliver it to me directly. Michelle never called. I called back and Michelle said they did not find it. Over the course of several weeks, my efforts to get my statue returned were met with no response or rudeness. Eventually Michelle quit answering my calls and I could not get information for management to work with them. I have filed a claim with the third party insurance company, but am in a long line of other claims. As an aside, the company charged an extra fee for the piano. They kept the fee for the statue, which was no more complicated than any other large furniture piece. The insurance claim does not cover this "fee", but MoveOn Moving refuses to refund this fee. The company will only take cash transfers and USPS money orders (paid before they will unload the truck), so I do not believe I have recourse via my bank. I have also filed a complaint with the United States Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, 1-888-DOTSAFT, NCCDB@dot.gov. I will be filing with the BBB and any other applicable agency.

Long-distance move from Fernley, NV to Buffalo, NY

Pay a lot and get your stuff broken.

SCAM!! I was quoted one rate over the phone. Then they call 6 days prior to pick up to re-go over the item list, they had a whole month to do this. 7 days prior is the cut off for a full refund by the way. Well after going over the list some how there's another $300 tacked on. On the day of pick up the driver tries to get me to not pay the weight estimate but a cubic foot estimate. I say ok thinking they would measure, NOPE. I point it out and I'm told "well we already started." one box had been loaded and if I cancel I'm out $700. They cram your stuff in and stack so much on top that the stuff below does not stand a chance. By the end of loading they dropped multiple boxes marked fragile. Many items came out broken, including two 4K TVs, nearly all the furniture had damage or gouges. When delivery was set up they couldn't fit a semi truck in like most public places so they wanted to charge me another $300 for a U-haul, the u-haul truck rents for $75. And you have to pay cash which is sketchy on its own. And when unloading they take other peoples stuff out and put it on the ground, exposing it to the elements (snowing the whole time during unload.) Read the contract, pay $1200 for full value insurance or they give you poor coverage - $0.60 cents per pound of damaged items. Got a $1000 radio they broke only weighs 10lbs you get $6. Yep, $6. The movers are not professional, not careful and will rush you through signing a contract to keep you from noticing how you are about to get screwed. And good luck with the customer service, they treat you like you are an inconvenience to them. Save your money get a U-haul or a Pod, the price you are quoted will not be that once you are past the full refund cancellation window, tack on another $1000 if you are lucky. And delivery windows are a 24hr notice so hopefully you have a job that will understand you needing to bail on short notice. Do yourself a favor avoid this company at all costs.

Long-distance move from Oakland, CA to Olympia, WA

Referred by BIMS.

I have moved 6 times in the past 14 years, 4 of them interstate. MoveON was not just the worst, it was the worst by far. A look at their ratings and BBB standing is enough to scare anyone off. Unfortunately, I booked this move with a move broker (if you are planning a move, be *sure* you understand the difference!), BIMS, and BIMS shopped my move to these guys.
We will be months recovering from this move. The team, contracted for a full pack and move, simply crammed stuff into boxes. When packing up my workbench, they simply shoveled the tools, neatly arranged in drawers, into a huge box. This included the the things I'd carefully separated out, because they were sharp. In order to unpack I'm going to have to root around in heavy sharps.
The wardrobes from our bedrooms were not used to hang clothes. Instead the clothes were pulled will-ye nil-ye from their hangars and stuffed. One box was half clothing, then all of the open bottles from the bath. The open hydrogen peroxide, of course, leaked, and ruined 7 or 8 shirts
Our china has been smashed, our paintings scraped and torn and our clothing ruined. And for this they demanded an extra $6K, in cash, before they would unload the truck.
When these guys showed up with their rental trucks and practically no packing material we should have run away. Learn from our mistakes! Stay away from Best Interstate and MoveON.

Do NOT believe the 5-Star Reviews (I'm sure they're FAKE)!!

If I could give this "company" NO stars, I would!! Please ignore the LIES of the highly rated reviews - the business obviously enlisted FRIENDS and FAMILY to LIE in order to SCAM more consumers.

They flat-out lied to me, as did the BROKER (We Pack) who should also be put out of business! It started with the broker lying about the delivery dates, the ability to purchase full-value insurance (but were closed when I called, then said "too late"). This company is heartless, telling me "Go to the Salvation Army" to buy clothes for my new job since they couldn't deliver my things on time as promised.

They demanded CASH before they would unload anything and EXTRA for a U-Haul they didn't need since the big truck would fit in the loading dock but they called me a liar over the phone, then switched the dates after promising deliver on X-mas Day afer my mom and I ran all over town to ATMs so we wouldn't go over our limits (I had to borrow cash from her - it was a joint effort to have enough cash for these crooks to pay all the extra $$ they demanded to deliver my things - all broken in pieces! And now they offer $16 for smashed china and china cabinet shelves, destroyed leather desk chair, etc.

I've moved MANY times with my ex in the military but this was the WORST, a total NIGHTMARE!

Long-distance move from Henderson, NV to Mansfield, TX

Interstate.

My items were packed on March 20th. I said first delivery could be accepted was March 31st. My items are still sitting in NV and there was no plans to move them to TX. Move on Moving said they they had 30 days from the 31st to get them to me and they don't have it scheduled yet to move (today is April 9th). Which is extremely inconvenient not to live without your stuff for up to 4 weeks especially when you run a business from the items packed. Plus have no idea when it will arrive.

Long-distance move from Sunnyvale, CA to Batavia, OH

Moved and happy.

I moved from Sunnyvale, California to Batavia, Ohio with my girlfriend and we hired move on movers to move us. We gave them a date range to pick up our things and I was really happy how nice the staff was. We did watch them pack our things up and they were careful and wrapped everything up appropriately. We were in storage for a couple of months because we decided we wanted to do a small road trip before reaching our new place. We scheduled the delivery and we got our items on time. I don't think I would choose another company if I decide to move again. I liked Move On and their professionalism. I will use them again and totally recommend them to everyon else. Thank you guys for great work done.

Long-distance move from Saint George, UT to Forsyth, MO

My move was fine.

So, I moved from St. George, Utah to Forsyth, Missouri, and with the packing, I was so surprised that they packed my things so quickly and efficiently without damage, and the protection blankets (that they wrapped my larger and more delicate items in) were well protected. This went so well that it lifted a weight off of my shoulders that I can put my focus into getting other things done rather than worry about getting all of my stuff moved. Once I arrived at the new house, I told them what dates I would be available for delivery, and they scheduled a date within that frame that worked for them. However, there were delays, I guess that I didn't know to inform them of the moving truck not fitting to unload, they did have to rent an outside truck and basically move my things from the truck into the rental to bring it to my house and deliver it that way. I felt bad because I knew that it was going to delay other deliveries but, had I known that it wouldn't fit, I would have said something. That being what happened, it did increase my upfront payment right away. (I recommend that when you have something delivered, to make sure that you have some extra cash on hand just in case of anything.. I wasn't prepared) I had to make a run to the nearest post office to get a money order to make that extra payment for the rental. That being said, my move did go pretty smoothly and I would totally use this company again.

Long-distance move from Beverly Hills, CA to South Orange, NJ

Worst Moving Company EVER.

I’ve moved cross country and even overseas a few times, and have never had an experience come even close to how HORRIBLE Best Interstate Moving and Move On Moving was. Stay away from Best Interstate Moving and Move On Moving – they will treat your possessions like dirt, and all the while be incredibly unresponsive and singularly unhelpful.

We moved from Southern California to New Jersey in January 2019. We hired Best Interstate Moving, and they in turn subcontracted out part of the move. At first, we thought the pack-up went well. But then we found that many items were damaged due to poor packing. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of the story.

Our contract said that we would receive 24 hours notice before our possessions were delivered. But we got a text at 2:00 AM from the driver delivering our possessions (Alex), telling us that he would be there in about ten hours. He ended up not coming until 9:00 PM! We called him three times to ask for a status update, but he told us to stop bothering him and hung up a number of times. The driver told us we had no choice but to take delivery that night because he had another delivery to make the next day.

It was pretty clear that the driver and the two men helping him move were not professional movers. They argued with each other constantly about the best way to move heavy items, and told us there should be a policy against having to move the heaviest items. One of the movers even said that it should be “against the law” to move our piano. The driver kept complaining about a back injury. He also repeatedly asked us to move items from the truck into the house, saying it would go faster if we helped them do the job we were paying them to do.

It took all night (until a little after 5:00 AM) for them to move everything into our new house. The list of damages was not just routine things we should expect during normal moves. They left deep gouges in our hardwood floors, dragging items across it. They chipped, scratched, and in some cases broke items that will cost THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to repair. Some items – like heirloom crystal that was in the family for generations and was carefully packed in Styrofoam packed boxes marked fragile - were priceless and irreplaceable.

And that doesn’t count the numerous lost items they never delivered! Missing items included a Bose stereo system and two bookcases, among MANY other missing pieces. I should not have been surprised, however. After all, the movers left a brand-new microwave oven (unopened in its original box) that was not ours and refused to pick it up because they had no idea who the owner was.

It was heart-breaking and completely frustrating to watch all of our possessions being treated with such complete disrespect. Wardrobe boxes were thrown upside down, protective covers were torn as mattresses were dragged through mud, and some boxes were mysteriously soaked through. Toward the end of that nightmarish night, we were so upset and tired that we could only stare in disbelief when the driver (Alex) had the nerve to tell us he expected a good review.

We just filed our insurance claim, and fully expect it to be a long and drawn out process. But we’re so outraged by the “service” that we paid them over $14,000 for that we will not stop until they have fully compensated us for all of the damages and property they owe us. For the record, both Best Interstate and Move On Moving have not been responsive or tried to help us resolve our issues. Do NOT use them (unless you want to have your possessions destroyed and lost).

Fantastic movers.

Very professional and great people! I've never used movers before and they walked me through the whole process over the phone and made sure everything was ready for the day of my move. The two employees who moved my things were so polite and did everything very quickly and without a single complaint, and with smiles on their faces. I would recommend this company for anyone looking for a good moving experience. Thanks! You saved me.

An awesome service!

The movers were EXCEPTIONAL!! I like that there's no double drive time, I'm on board with the flat rate. When I asked to add extra protection to some of my belongings, never any grumbling, service with a smile! I'll definitely use them for my next move! Thank you! I'm happy this move was not a nightmare like others. I've moved a lot of times and know great-honest workers/movers when I see them, Moveon Moving is exactly that!!

DO NOT USE - Unscrupulous Movers.

Do not use this company as they are unresponsive and engage in unscrupulous business practices. Move On Moving tried to overcharge me without providing a valid reason and then have delayed responding to me and have failed to reimburse me, presumably in the hope I would just give up and go away. Do not use this company and do not trust them.

I received an estimate from a reputable international moving company that my move would be less than 1200 cubic feet. When Move On Moving showed up (they were contracted by a broker, not chosen by me) they showed up with one form for a "Revised Written Estimate" and then upped my estimated cubic feet by >25% within 15 minutes of being in my home. They certainly appeared to never have any intention of honoring the originally price or estimate. We threw out a bunch of stuff between the estimate and when they showed up, separately loaded 10 bags on a plane and drove a car stuffed with items, so our actual cubic feet should have been (and was) less than even the original estimate.

When I showed the movers the inventory from my estimate and asked them to point out one item in the home that was not in the inventory they could not, but instead looked nervous, made a phone call and then said it would take more boxes and that I had to accept the estimate or find a different company. We had to leave the next day so I had no choice but to accept it because I was told it would be handled later and the price reduced.

Additionally the movers showed up late and unprepared, and ran over the allotted time forcing us to incur extra costs with our building. They also did not follow previously-provided rules re use of the elevators and laying down protective covering on the carpets, which resulted in them and me being chastised by our building security, which was personally embarrassing.

After my stuff came (and they mislead me multiple times on when it would actually show up) it was clear from the cubic footage markings in the truck that not only was my stuff less than the amount billed, but less even than the original estimate. When I tried to seek reimbursement, they instead told me to use their third party insurance claim provider which handles lost or damaged items. They had to know that claim vendor wouldn't deal with billing items and I think was just another delay tactic by them to try to get me to go away. They did provide me with an adjustment for 97 cubic feet before they showed up due to a "warehouse discrepancy" or something similar, but couldn't tell me where that came from or why I wasn't getting a larger adjustment. Presumably they were hoping this

I have provided Move On with photos showing the before and after of our items in the truck, showing that our move was for less cubic feet than was billed. Their inventory was for substantially less items than even used in the estimate and the best explanation I got from Move On was, "maybe the three cubic foot box used in the estimate is different than the three cubic foot box we used." I'm pretty sure cubic feet is an objective measure..

It's been over a month and I have not gotten a single penny back from Move On, despite numerous calls, emails, etc. They have been provided my original estimate as well as photos of the truck showing our actual cubic footage. It appears their business model is based on overcharging you for a move when it's too late for you to do anything about it other than rely on their statements that it will be taken care of later and not to worry about it, then try to delay or not respond to you when you do try to address it.

Do not use this company, they are shady at best and if you do use them, photograph or record everything, you're going to need it.

Long-distance move from Phoenix, AZ to Madison, WI

Easy move.

These people were GREAT!! In all honesty, I had a great moving experience with this moving company. It was my second time doing a long distance move and I have given myself much more time to prepare this time compared to last time I move. That being said, the move went rather good. I packed my own things, and made sure to pack them extremely careful to ensure that there weren't going to be any damages or, at least minimal.

Anyway, I ended up hiring through a broker and was subcontracted Move On. The girl in their customer service department has been friendly and great to stay connected with. She walked me through each step of the way and helped me out by explaining the process of a move. Their movers that came out to my house were very friendly upon pick up, and during delivery I had a different crew of people but also, they were very nice to deal with. My load ended up being above what I was expecting but, I understand that moving up a flight of stairs is going to cost more than if it was right there. If you do your homework and understand how moves work, you'll know more of what to expect.

I would like to say that this move was really easy for me to not have to move my own things. I would definitely recommend them.

They truly exceeded expectations.

We used Moveon Moving for our move from Las Vegas to Palm Springs. They did an exceptional job. Their movers were fast, careful, courteous and completely professional. We have a lot of artwork and fragile items, large and small, and all was delivered without a scratch. The same team loaded our belongings, drove the items, and unloaded at our new home and office. We were struck by how they truly took ownership of doing everything carefully and correctly from start to finish. I've worked with a number of national moving companies over the years, and these movers provided the best moving experience we've had.

Quick and efficient movers.

Wonderful is the only way I can describe this experience. I felt obliged to write a review to let everyone know that this is the best moving company I have experienced and trust me, I've moved several times state to state and every mover messed up something! But not them! They were straightforward with the quote and the thing I really liked is that they give a top estimate to let you know how long it would take in the worse scenario meaning, I had to do my part by boxing everything (of course they can assist as well)! Adjustments will be made if you do not exceed the estimated time and I didn't! Very honest, nice and efficient! They moved and finished during the rain and they still did not take 6 hours as estimated so they are damn good! Perfecto!

Very professional team.

I am blessed to have found these guys! Trustworthy and very smart about wrapping items, able to move irreplaceable heirlooms. Moved items across town in traffic and up three flights of stairs carefully and without any issue. Moving items is tricky, especially bulky heavy, expensive & easily breakable items - these guys have done several jobs for me without fail. I am very happy to have my new carved wood, marble topped wine bar with its glass and mirrored sides, all safely in my new home. I will trust them to move it next time too! Highly Recommend!

Lack of communication, late delivery, lost item.

I did not hire this company directly, I called a broker and they hired MoveOn without telling me which company they would hire. The initial pickup was fine, though they were a couple of hours late because the company made these poor guys pick up 4 people's stuff in one day! They had no real breaks for food or rest, I felt so bad for them.

Then it took nearly a month for my stuff to finally be delivered when they told me moves of my distance were usually 7-10 days. The company never answered my calls. When I finally was given a delivery date they said they would call 24 hours in advance, however that day passed and I got no call and was so confused. I got an email the next day (the day that had been the previous last day of guaranteed delivery) saying the driver had an emergency and then they gave me new delivery dates. I understand emergencies happen, but I would have appreciated some communication from the company instead of just waiting around all day for a call that never came.

When the driver arrived it was actually another driver from another company that MoveOn had subcontracted to deliver the stuff, not even MoveOn (Which they did not tell me they were going to do). This poor man who had just gone through a family tragedy had to move all of my stuff all by himself, which seems wrong I feel like there should be two people to help with heavy items.

My entire queen-sized box spring for my bed was missing, and the driver told me it was gone before the stuff was even loaded into his truck. How do you lose an entire queen box spring? Some items were broken, and many more of the boxes were squished or falling apart.

I was at my wit's end by the end of this move; thinking you will have your stuff in 10 days and then waiting a month is so stressful. I did not have enough clothes for my new job, I had to sleep on the ground for a month, and the communication from this company was incredibly limited.

Long-distance move from Crestline, CA to Lake Stevens, WA

Expensive and unnecessary.

We relocated from CA to WA and decided to go with professional movers. A broker set us up with MoveON in Las Vegas. It was imperative that the move be completed a day after we arrived at the new house, so the company arranged for the pick up 10 days prior to us moving.

The movers arrived in a 26’ truck and our stuff didn’t fill it; it was a large house, and full credit to the movers for their packing. However, the moving truck didn’t arrive for another 5 days after we moved into the WA house.

We paid over $7000 for the move, and it turns out we could have done it ourselves with full-service U-Haul (26’ truck with movers at each end) for about $5000, including gas, and we wouldn’t have had to wait for our stuff to arrive.

The intent was to take out the moving stress by paying for the movers; that didn’t happen.

It’s beyond me why anybody would use professional movers after this experience, let alone MoveON as a company.

Long-distance move from Tempe, AZ to Portland, OR

Horrific company! Do NOT use whatsover!!

Short story:
Late on both pick-up and drop-off
Over a month before my items were delivered
Employees tried to extort me for more money
Management authorized movers to leave my things in the lobby of my apartment complex and drive off
Zero customer service skills
Rarely staffed phone line (during normal business hours)
Tons of damaged items
Long story:
Please do not use MoveOn Moving ever! I had a horrific experience with them, and they are too incompetent to make any changes in their lack of quality any time soon. They hire employees who will try and extort you for more money (even when contractually they are in the wrong), and their management will do nothing to mitigate the situation nor demonstrate any semblance of customer service. My movers were over 2 hours late for BOTH the pick-up and the drop-off. For my particular move, it took almost TWO FULL WEEKS after my things were picked up for my paperwork to even make it back to the company’s headquarters (because apparently digital/phone calls/emails are not a thing) for my drop-off schedule to even get processed. Meanwhile, I am ready for my things two days after my items were picked up. I called every other day to check on the status of my move, and either no one picked up (how can they not staff during business hours?) or I was just told that they did not have any updates. A few times when I called and gave them my moving information, I was specifically told “we do not have your information, you must not have used our services”. When I told them how that was literally impossible, and maybe look for longer than two seconds in their files, I would get an “oh, there you are!” Before my things were ever picked up, I told MoveOn of a vacation I was going on three weeks later. I was told this was no problem for my drop-off to happen before then. Well, even after multiple check-in calls a week with no delivery date scheduled in sight, I finally was transferred to a manager, who informed me that they “were never made aware of this”, and that my delivery was still a long way off (so, DURING my vacation). Obviously, this was a blatant lie on their part. When my things were finally delivered (OVER A MONTH after my first available date), the driver of the truck tried to EXTORT me for extra money. He said he was not made aware of stairs (I was on the second floor), and I let him know he is welcome to use the elevator, oh and by the way, my contract SPECIFICALLY stated that a flight of stairs was included. He huffed and puffed, and stormed off to his truck to call the company. Half an hour later, he told me he was AUTHORIZED to leave my things on the first-floor entryway. Are you kidding me?? Someone in this company said he could leave a paying customer’s personal belongings in the middle of a public apartment complex’s entryway instead of delivering them to the specific apartment! After I told him absolutely not, he finally agreed to not try and extort more money out of me, and that he would take it up with the company. Fast forward to them FINALLY finishing, 5 hours after they were scheduled to show up, I am unpacking and find multiple broken dishes, my couch with a huge slash in it, my bookshelf destroyed, and my mattresses all with black marks, scratches, and signs of extremely rough handling. I am STILL in arbitration with them over all of the damages (4 months later). This company is complete garbage, they have horrific customer service, and they are utterly incompetent. Please please please, do NOT use this company whatever you do! Feel free to reach out to me if you would like more details to understand this is a true and honest experience.

Long-distance move from Douglas, AZ to Butte, MT

Stay Away From This Company.

This company gives you very low estimates to undercut its competitors and then, once they have your stuff, they jack up the price to be way higher than everyone else and then forget they have your stuff for at least a month. I didn’t see my stuff for a month, called them multiple times, and they didn’t even have a truck set up. After about a week of daily calls they got something set up, but what if I didn’t call? Would I ever get my stuff? If you want practice managing a moving company, contract these guys to move your stuff, because they are so mismanaged you will have to do most of it yourself.

Long-distance move from Port Orchard, WA to Knoxville, TN

If possible I would rate a zero.

Totally unprofessiona. Destroyed furniture and collectibles that cannot be replaced. Loaded boxes marked fragile on the bottom. Employee named patrick , name provided by customer service when finally could get an answer, vaped cannabis products in my home. Apparently it has been an issue in the past. Offered an insult to settle my damages.

Long-distance move from California to North Dakota

My move has been a nightmare!

I would give zero stars if I could. The movers picked up my items in northern California on October 22, 2020, to be moved to Ohio. Pickup was. I had several boxes clearly marked Fragile that were handled carefully. The date that I gave the company that I could receive my items in Ohio was November 6th. I was told that in the interim, my belongings would be stored in a warehouse in Las Vegas.

November 6th came and went, with no contact by this company. I moved into my apartment in Ohio on November 14th, with just 3 suitcases. I called the company to inquire about delivery, because I'm in a totally empty apartment. Often when I called, no one answered, and I was directed to leave a message, and someone would return my call within 2 business days. No one ever returned my call. So I kept calling, finally spoke with someone, and was told that they delay was due to Covid, blah blah. I explained that I'm living in an apartment with no furniture, no bed, nothing to sit on, no way to cook. We're sorry, but due to Covid... So I continued to call periodically, same BS. Mid December I spoke with someone, explained that I STILL am living in an empty apartment, and all of the Christmas gifts that I have purchased for my family are in their ware house. The gentleman on the phone assured me that I would have my shipment by Christmas, and again apologized. So Christmas came and went, no shipment, no communication from the company. FINALLY, three months after this company picked up my items, my belongings were delivered to me. They did discount my balance due to the delay, but the man doing the delivery informed me that be wasn't able to get the big truck he was driving onto one of the streets nearby, so he would have to rent a U Haul, transfer the items into the smaller truck, and I would have to pay for that.

When my shipment arrived, the boxes clearly marked Fragile were crushed, and he put them on the bottom of the pile of boxes. The footboard of my bed is missing, so I can't assemble my bed. An antique brass floor lamp was missing the shade and all of the hardware to hold the shade on, was broken off. A large container of gardening tools, missing. Wooden rocking chair broken.

After living in an empty apartment for 2 months, with no furniture, no bed, nothing to even sit on, this was infuriating to say the least. And my calls to this company go unanswered.
